This week on Teesside: 10th-16th February

James Cartwright rounds up the latest football action on Teesside.

Northern League Division One

Frustratingly the weather was once again to blame as Marske United missed out on two home fixtures against Newcastle Benfield and Stockton Town.

In order to get games on, Saturday’s clash with Shildon AFC will be played at Billingham Town’s Bedford Terrace.

In the games that did take place, Stockton Town drew 3-3 at home with Ashington AFC.

Guisborough Town secured another away victory as a brace from Lee Bythway and one from Steven Roberts gave them a 3-0 win at Ryhope CW.

Priorymen photographer, Dan Clark (@danclark8063) caught the action.

 Northern League Division Two

Billingham Town conceded three second half goals as they squandered a 1-0 lead to lose 3-1 at home to league leaders Northallerton Town. A report on the game can be read here: https://northallertontownfc.site123.me/news/billingham-1-3-town

Off the field, Town will be hosting a Club EGM on Sunday. Details for that can be found here: http://billinghamtownfc.net/news.html

Kurtis Howes and Matthew Robinson were on the scoresheet for Thornaby as they won 2-1 at Ryton & Crawcrook Albion.

Ryton reporter Edward Painter’s (@eopainter) report on the game can be read here: https://eopainter.wordpress.com/2018/02/11/ryton-crawcrook-albion-v-thornaby-10-02-2018/

Thornaby also found out they will face Scarborough Athletic at home in the Semi-Final of the North Riding Senior Cup.

Former Thornaby midfielder Curtis Edwards’s Europa League journey continued last night as Ostersund met Arsenal in the Round of 32. Unfortunately the Swedish side fell to 3-0 defeat in the first leg.

Before the game Curtis met up with Simon Peach for BT sport, the article can be read here: http://sport.bt.com/football/curtis-edwards-to-cap-off-remarkable-two-years-when-ostersund-welcome-arsenal-S11364250409766

Wearside League

Only one Teesside team was in Wearside League action last weekend as Stokesley overcame Harton & Westoe 3-2 at home. A report on the game can be read here: http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/hartonwestoefc/news/stokesley-sc-3-2-harton-westoe-cw-fc-2178242.html

Wolviston were in friendly action as they drew 1-1 at Durham Alliance side Horden CW. A report, courtesy of Connor Lamb (@CWJL4) can be read here: https://connorsfootball.wordpress.com/2018/02/10/horden-cw-vs-wolviston-4/

James’s game of the week

It’s possible to get two matches in the Teesside football fix this weekend as the action kicks off this evening with a Teesside derby between Billingham Synthonia and Guisborough Town. Can the Priorymen pick up a third straight away win?

On Saturday 4th plays 5th in the Northern League Division One as Marske meet Shildon at Billingham Town’s Bedford Terrace.
