This week on Teesside: March 17th-23rd

All eyes will be on the Bishopton Road West again as Stockton Town host Marske United in the 2nd leg of their FA Vase Semi-Final.

Last weekend an own goal from Josh Rowbotham and one from Fred Woodhouse gave Stockton a 2-0 win in the first leg.

Elsewhere in Berkshire, Thatcham Town beat 1874 Northwich 1-0 to take an advantage to Cheshire.

Marske were unlucky to go away behind in the tie last weekend after dominating the ball for much of the game. Still, manager Carl Jarrett is expecting more from his players ahead of this weekend’s clash he told the Northern Echo.

The Non League Football Show (@nonleagueshow) looked ahead to the tie with an interview with Stockton Town chairman Martin Hillerby: https://audioboom.com/posts/6741785-23rd-march-2018-fa-trophy-gateshead-wealdstone-fa-vase-1874-northwich-stockton-town

Northern League Division Two

Billingham Town suffered two defeats in a week to all but end their faint promotion hopes.

On Saturday they lost 2-1 at home to Darlington RA with all the drama coming in the final ten minutes. Brandon Kirkbride gave Town the lead in 86th minute before Nathan Wilson levelled from the penalty spot. RA stole the points when James Connor netted in stoppage time.

It was a game played in testing conditions as can be seen from this tweet:

Last night, a Jack Pounder goal was enough to give Easington a 1-0 win over Town. Here’s a report, courtesy of Easington media man Connor Lamb (@CWJ4L) https://connorsfootball.wordpress.com/2018/03/23/easington-colliery-vs-billingham-town-2/

Thornaby were also in action in the week and this blog would have provided highlights of their clash with Crook Town. Unfortunately such is Non League, the game was abandoned after 47 minutes due to floodlight failure.
